What You Need: |

˝ lump sugar
A dash of Angostura bitters
A drop of cold water
2 to 3 ice cubes
3 ounces bourbon, Scotch or blended whiskey
1 strip lemon peel
1 slice orange (optional)
1 maraschino cherry (optional)
An old-fashioned glass

How To Cook: |
|
|
1. In an old-fashioned glass, place the ˝ lump of sugar, dash of bitters and drop of cold water.
|
2. With a muddler, crush the sugar so that it is completely dissolved: if it is not, it will cloud the drink.
|
3. Add the ice cubes and whiskey and stir well.
|
4. Twist the lemon peel over the drink, releasing the oil, twirl the cut edgeof the peel around the inside rim of the glass, and drop it in.
|
NOTE: Sometimes a slice of orange and/or a maraschino cherry are added.
