What You Need: |

1˝ ounces fresh lemon juice
3 ounces gin
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
3 to 4 ice cubes
2 ounces cold club soda
An 8-ounce highball glass, chilled

How To Cook: |
|
|
1. Place the lemon juice, gin and sugar in a mixing glass and stir with a bar spoon to dissolve the sugar.
|
2. Add the ice cubes and place a shaker on top of the mixing glass.
|
3. Grasping them firmly together with both hands, shake vigorously 8 to 10 times.
|
4. Remove the shaker, place a strainer over the mixing glass, and pour into the chilled highball glass.
|
5. Rinse the shaker with the club soda and pour into the glass.
|
6. A sloe gin fizz is made the same way, substituting sloe gin (not a gin but a liqueur made from blackthorn berries) for the dry gin and using only ˝ teaspoon of sugar.
