Cumin Sticks
(Koulourakia Me Kimino)
What You Need:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon s t
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ cup grate kefalotiri cheese
  • 2 sticks (½ pound) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons ouzo
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds

  • How To Cook:
    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

    2. Blend together flour, salt, mustard, and cheese. Add melted butter, egg yolk, ouzo, and water, mixing to form soft dough.

    3. Roll out dough to a thickness of ¼ inch and cut into 3 by ½-inch strips, or cut into various shapes with a cookie cutter.

    4. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with cumin seeds.

    5. Bake for 15 minutes or until light brown.

    To Make: 4 to 5 dozen sticks
