Pork Teriyaki
What You Need:
  • 2 pounds boneless pork
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup sherry wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (or 2 teaspoons grated ginger root)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut the pork (across the grain) into 1/8-inch thick slices about 1½-inch by 2-inch. In a mi9rowave oven-proof bowl mix the soy sauce, wine, sugar, garlic, and ginger.

    2. Heat the sauce in the microwave oven long enough to dissolve the sugar thoroughly. Stir in the pork.

    3. Marinate at least an hour, stirring from time-to-time. Drain the pork and put in a covered casserole. Stir in the cornstarch.

    4. Cook, covered, in the microwave oven, stirring often, until the meat has lost all traces of pinkness and is tender. (This should take about 10 to 15 minutes.)

    TIP:
Pork must be well-done. Take no chances. By stirring often, each piece is evenly exposed to the microwaves and will be cooked evenly. For an alternate way to serve, stir in ¼ cup of the marinade when the meat is tender and continue cooking another minute or two to thicken the sauce; serve over rice.

    To Serve: 4 to 6
