How To Cook: |

1. Put the almonds and butter in a small cup and toast in the microwave oven, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.

2. Drain the pear halves and arrange in a circular dish with the large ends of the pears around the outer edge of the container.
|
3. Mix the almonds, sugar, almond extract and maraschino cherries. Spoon into the pear cavities.
|
4. Put 1 teaspoon wine into each pear cavity and then pour the rest into the baking dish.
|
5. Bake, covered, in the microwave oven 4 minutes. Pears can be served hot or chilled.

TIP:

To make this dish even more delectable, top each pear with a small scoop of almond- or vanilla-flavored ice cream. Make up an extra batch-you may need it.
