Guava Pie
What You Need:
CRUST
  • cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1¼ teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ cup milk
  • A pinch of salt

    FILLING
  • Ripe guavas (when in season) or use tinned guavas
  • Water
  • Sugar

  • How To Cook:
    CRUST:
    1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

    2. Cut butter into this and blend until mixture looks like cornmeal. Stir in milk.

    3. Knead on a floured board for 1 minute. Divide dough into 2 balls.

    4. Roll out bottom crust, cut and fit into a greased pie dish. Put in filling of guava slices with some syrup.

    5. Cover with remaining dough. Brush over with milk and make one or two slits in the pastry.

    6. Bake in a 350°F oven for about 30 minutes.

    FILLING:
    1. Peel fresh guavas, cut in half and scoop out seeds.

    2. Cover with water, add sugar and boil slowly until fruit is tender and syrup has formed. Fill crust.

    To Make: 1 pie
