How To Cook: |
1. Cut slices off a round loaf.
2. Spread one side of each with fresh butter, then cover with a ¼-inch slice of Jura or Gruyere cheese, cutting it a little smaller than the bread, since in the process of melting it is going to spread.
3. Place the slices in a fireproof dish containing small knobs of butter and ½ cup La Cote wine.
4. Put in a hot oven (450°F) until the cheese melts into a smooth paste.
5. Serve very hot, with freshly ground pepper.
