Easter Bread
What You Need:
  • 1 oz yeast
  • 6 oz sugar
  • ˝ pint milk
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1 pound flour
  • 4˝ oz candied fruit
  • 6 egg yolks

  • How To Cook:
    1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk, mix with half the flour and leave to rise.

    2. Beat the egg yolks and sugar together and, when the dough has risen, mix this in, and add the melted butter.

    3. Add the remaining flour and the chopped fruit.

    4. Beat the mixture well and leave to rise.

    5. Form into plaited loaves.

    6. Prove for 20 - 30 minutes and bake in a hot oven (450°F) until well-risen and browned.

    To Make: 1 loaf
