Obwalden Honey Cake
What You Need:
  • cups honey
  • A pinch of powdered cloves
  • 2½ cups sour cream or milk
  • A pinch of crushed aniseed
  • A pinch of salt
  • 7 oz sugar
  • A little nutmeg
  • Juice and grated peel of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon bicarbonate soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Flour

  • How To Cook:
    1. Pour the honey into a basin and mix in the cream or milk, salt, sugar, lemon and spices.

    2. Sieve in the bicarbonate and enough flour to make firm dough.

    3. Form this into three slabs, put into a buttered tin and bake for ¾ hour in a moderate oven (350°F).

    4. When done, brush over with diluted honey.
