1. Scrape the kernels from a fresh corn cob, mix flour, egg, and salt and pepper to taste.

2. Heat some fat until very hot and drop in spoonfuls of the mealie mixture.
|
3. Fry until golden-brown on both sides, drain well and serve at once with fried bacon.
|
4. For sweet fritters, omit the seasoning and serve with sugar or golden syrup and ground cinnamon.
