What You Need: |

4 oz butter
¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
3 oz sugar
Milk or water if necessary
1 egg
Oil for frying
6 oz self-raising flour
Caster sugar
A pinch of salt

How To Cook: |
|
|
1. Cream the fat and sugar, add the egg and beat well.
|
2. Sieve flour, salt and nutmeg and fold into the mixture to form a stiff dough, adding liquid if necessary.
|
3. Roll out ¼ inch thick, and cut into diamond shapes.
|
4. Make a slot in the centre of each and pull one corner through, then fry in hot oil until golden-brown.
|
5. Drain well and sprinkle with caster sugar.
