Scalloped Potatoes
What You Need:
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 medium onion, sliced or chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2/3 pint milk

  • How To Cook:
    1. Mix the flour, salt and pepper.

    2. Arrange one-third of the potatoes in a greased casserole, sprinkle with half the flour mixture and dot with half the butter.

    3. Add half the onion.

    4. Cover with another third of the potatoes and add the remaining flour mixture, butter and onion.

    5. Top with remaining potatoes. Pour milk over the top.

    6. Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until milk comes to a gentle boil, about 45 minutes.

    7. Uncover and continue baking until potatoes are tender and top is lightly browned- 30-35 minutes longer.

    8. Variations: Add sliced ham or chunks of sausage or frankfurters between the potatoes.
