1. Melt the fat in the water and sprinkle in the oatmeal, working them together well.

2. Roll out on a board which has been well dusted with oatmeal and cut into cakes about the size of a small plate and very thin.

3. Cook slowly on a fairly hot griddle or a very thick frying pan for 10 minutes.
|
4. Lift off carefully and leave in a warm place to harden.
|
5. As the cakes are very brittle and dry quickly, it is advisable to make the mixture in small quantities.
