1. Mince the meat.

2. Fry the finely chopped onion in a little dripping, and then add the minced meat, season with salt and pepper.

3. Add a pinch of nutmeg, moisten with about 1 cup of stock, and simmer for 1 - 1˝ hours, then add the ketchup and the breadcrumbs or oatmeal, mix well and cook for 5-10 minutes.

4. Put on a hot dish, surround with a border of mashed potatoes, and garnish with sliced hard-boiled egg and the croutons.
