Shrewsbury Biscuits
What You Need:
  • 3 oz butter
  • 3 oz sugar
  • A few drops of vanilla essence or a little grated lemon rind
  • ˝ egg
  • 8 oz self-raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon water (approx.)

  • How To Cook:
    1. Put the fat and sugar into a bowl and cream together until soft and white, and then gradually add the flavoring and egg and work in the flour, together with the water, to form soft, pliable dough.

    2. Roll out to about 1/8 inch in thickness and cut into fancy shapes with biscuit cutters.

    3. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 15-20 minutes until pale brown.

    To Make: about 16-18 biscuits
