Belgian Beef Stew
What You Need:
  • 1½ pound stewing beef
  • Pepper
  • Butter or margarine
  • A bunch mixed herbs or 1 small teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 6 oz chopped onion
  • 1½ pints beer
  • Salt
  • Flour

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cut the beef into ¾ - inch cubes, fry in a little butter until brown, and put it in a casserole.

    2. Fry the onion until brown and add this to the casserole. Pour the beer over, season and add the herbs.

    3. Cover and simmer in a slow oven (325°F) for 4 hours, until the meat is tender.

    4. Remove the herbs (if whole) and thicken the stew with a little flour mixed to a smooth paste with water.

    To Serve: 2 - 4
