1. Peel and mince the onions and brown them lightly in the hot butter in the saucepan, add the water and salt and allow simmering until the onions are quite clear.

2. Put the grated cheese in a warmed soup tureen and, just before serving, pour the boiling soup over it, stirring constantly.
|
3. Add paprika to taste and serve at once.
