Apricot - Cheese Pastry Hearts
What You Need:
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Butter or margarine
  • Cream cheese
  • Apricot preserves
  • Eggs
  • Sugar

  • How To Cook:
    1. Into bowl sift 1 cup flour, 1/8 teaspoon teaspoon salt. Add ½ cup butter or margarine, ¼ pound cream cheese, in small pieces.

    2. Into bowl sift flour, teaspoon salt add butter or margarine and cream cheese, in small pieces.

    3. With pastry blender or two knives, scissor fashion, cut butter and cheese into flour mixture till they are well blended.

    4. Lightly shape into ball; wrap in waxed paper or foil; refrigerate till well chilled. Heat oven to 400°F.

    5. Lightly grease two baking sheets. On floured surface, roll out dough 1/8 inches thick.

    6. Then cut with 3¼-inch by 2½-inch heart-shaped biscuit cutter. In center of each of half of cut-out pastry hearts, place 1 teaspoon of apricot preserves.

    7. Now brush their edges with beaten egg, cover each with another cut-out heart, then, with fork, lightly press edges together.

    8. Arrange on baking sheets. Brush top of each with beaten egg, sprinkle with sugar.

    9. Bake 10-12 minutes or till golden; cool on rack.
