What You Need:
(To serve 10 to 12)

1 stick cinnamon
12 whole cloves
Peelings of 2 oranges, cut into thin slivers
Peelings of 2 lemons, cut into thin slivers
6 sugar lumps
8 ounces brandy
2 ounces curacao
1 quart strong black coffee
About 1 dozen 8-ounce stemmed goblets, mugs or cups

How To Cook: |

|
1. In a brulot bowl or chafing dish, mash the cinnamon, cloves, orange peel, lemon peel and sugar lumps with a ladle.
|
2. Add the brandy and curacao and stir together.
|
3. Carefully ignite the brandy, stepping back, since the flame might flare up, and mix until the sugar is dissolved.
|
4. Gradually add the black coffee and continue mixing until the flame flickers out.
