What You Need:

6 pounds fresh ham
2 sticks (½ pound) butter
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1½ cups chopped onion
2 cups tomato puree
8 cups water
3 cinnamon sticks
1½ pounds macaroni
1 cup grated kefalotiri or Parmesan cheese, for topping

How To Cook: |

|
1. Cut ham into 3-inch cubes. In skillet brown meat in 4 tablespoons butter; add salt, pepper, and ground cinnamon.

2. In a large casserole brown onion in 4 tablespoons butter. Add meat, tomato puree, water, and cinnamon sticks.
|
3. Simmer about 3 hours, until sauce is thick and meat well done.
|
4. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and empty into serving dish.

5. Brown remaining ¼ pound butter in a small skillet. Pour browned butter over macaroni; add grated cheese.
|
6. Pour sauce and meat over all. Serve immediately.
