What You Need:

  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings, butter or margarine
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound okra, sliced
  • 2½ cups fresh, skinned; or canned tomatoes
  • 1¼ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon curry powder
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • ½ cup corn cut from cob or drained corn niblets (optional)

  • How To Cook:
    1. Saute onions in bacon drippings, butter or margarine until golden brown.

    2. Add okra and saute for 5 minutes.

    3. Add remaining ingredients; simmer covered until okra is tender.
