											|  |  | 1. Wash and cut guavas in half, using a pointed teaspoon remove seeds. Cut into pieces and place in a pot. 
 
 |  | 2. Add water until you can see it between the guava pieces. Cook over moderate heat until tender. 
 
 |  | 3. Strain and sieve. Measure pulp and add equal measurements of sugar. 
 
 |  | 4. Add lime juice to taste, if desired. Cook until mixture is thick, stirring frequently to prevent scorching.
