What You Need:

  • Fruit as available
  • 1/3 pint water
  • 4 tablespoons rolled oats
  • Ripe dessert apples
  • 4 good tablespoons sweet condensed milk
  • Grated nuts
  • Bananas, grapes, etc., to decorate
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • Cream to decorate
  • Grated lemon rind (optional)

  • How To Cook:
    1. Prepare the fruit as required.

    2. Put all the ingredients, except the apples and nuts, in a bowl, and mix to a thick cream.

    3. Wash and halve the apples, remove the stalks and flower end and grate the apple flesh directly into the rolled oats mixture, stirring this constantly to preserve the whiteness of the apples; the mixture should be light and creamy in consistency.

    4. Sprinkle the top with some grated nuts (or some rolled oats or wheat germ), decorate with apple quarters, sliced banana, seeded grapes or other fruit in season and if desired add some whipped cream.
