Russians dress many of their salads with their favorite rich, tart smetana, sour cream, an excellent flavoring for lettuce and greens. Serve this salad as a first course for luncheon or dinner, or as an accompaniment for poultry or meat.

What You Need:
(To Serve: 6 - 8)

2 small heads leafy lettuce, washed, dried, torn into bite-size pieces, and chilled
1 medium-sized cucumber, peeled and sliced thinly
½ cup sour cream
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
Salt, pepper to taste
2 hard-cooked eggs, shelled and sliced

1. Combine lettuce and cucumber in a salad bowl; toss.
|
2. Mix remaining ingredients, except eggs; add to salad; toss.
|
3. Serve at once, garnished with eggs.
