1 3-pound broiler-fryer chicken, cut up
1 quart water
2 carrots, thinly sliced
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 sweet red or green bell pepper, chopped
3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
¼ cup lemon juice
Dash of Hot Pepper Sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

How To Cook: |

|
1. Place chicken in large pot and cover with water.
|
2. Add remaining ingredients.
|
3. Heat to boiling; cover and reduce heat.
|
4. Simmer 1 hour or until chicken is cooked.
|
5. Serve with noodles, grits or Johnny Cake or Johnny Cake with Cornmeal.
