How To Cook: |

1. Start heating the oven to moderately hot (400°F).
|
2. Grease well about 12 2½-inch muffin pan cups.
|
3. Sieve the flour, salt, baking powder.
|
4. Soak the bran in the milk for 5 minutes.
|
5. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat the shortening and sugar until light, add the beaten egg, and stir until smooth.
|
6. Add to the bran mixture and stir. Add the flour mixture and dates, stirring only until just mixed, no longer.
|
7. Fill the muffin cups two-thirds full.
|
8. Bake for 25 minutes, or until done.
