What You Need:            (To Make: 1 cake)

  • About 12 dates, stoned and chopped
  • ¼ pint water
  • 6 oz flour
  • 4 oz rolled oats
  • 6 oz brown sugar
  • 5 oz butter or margarine

  • How To Cook:
    1. Mix the dry ingredients and rub in the fat.

    2. Cook the dates with the water until soft.

    3. Place half the crumble mixture at the bottom of an 8-inch square greased tin, cover with dates, and then add remaining crumble mixture.

    4. Press well down and bake in a moderate oven (375°F) for 1¼ hours; allow cooling slightly before turning it out.
