		1½ pound cooking apples
		2 onions

											| How To Cook: |

											|  |  | 1. Make the pastry. 
 
 |  | 2. Place at the bottom of a pie dish a layer of peeled, cored and sliced apples, then a layer of mutton chops, well-seasoned with salt and pepper. 
 
 |  | 3. Then add a layer of apples, next a layer of peeled, sliced onions and another layer of apples; follow with mutton, apples and onions. 
 
 |  | 4. Pour on ½ pint water, cover with the pastry crust and bake in a moderately hot oven (425°F) for 10 minutes, then in a moderate oven (375°F) for a further ¾ hour, or until the meat is cooked.
