What You Need:            (To Serve: 2 - 4)

  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 oz flour
  • 5 cloves
  • 1½ oz lard or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • ½ pound diced cold meat
  • 1 pint meat or meat cube stock
  • Pepper
  • Piquant table sauce

  • How To Cook:
    1. Brown the onions and flour in the fat in a saucepan, and add the stock gradually, stirring all the time.

    2. Add the bay leaves and cloves and simmer for 5 minutes with the lid on.

    3. Add the vinegar and meat and simmer for another hour.

    4. Thicken if desired, then season to taste with pepper and the piquant table sauce.
