Onions
Tomatoes

1. Clean some salted herrings carefully, remove the skin and bones and trim the fillets neatly.

2. Lay them in a shallow dish and draw them through alternate rings of onions and tomatoes.

3. Dress with a marinade of one part vinegar to two parts salad oil.
