What You Need:            (To Make: 1 cake)

  • 4 oz butter
  • 2½ gills thin cream
  • 12 oz sugar
  • 1 pound flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cardamoms
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • Caster sugar

  • How To Cook:
    1. Melt the butter and pour over the sugar, add the cardamoms and pour in the cream.

    2. Sieve together the flour and the baking powder and fold into the mixture.

    3. Pour into a round 8-inch cake tin which has been brushed with melted butter and dusted with flour and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about 1 hour.

    4. Turn out on to a wire rack, bottom uppermost, and dredge thickly with caster sugar while the cake is still hot.
