What You Need:            (To Serve: 2 - 4)

  • 8 oz macaroni
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 pint milk
  • Butter
  • ¾ pound raw ham
  • 4 oz grated cheese

  • How To Cook:
    1. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water for 5-10 minutes, then drain in a colander and rinse it in cold water.

    2. Return it to the pan with the milk, and cook very slowly until this is absorbed.

    3. Cut the ham into small dice and fry until lightly brown.

    4. Mix the ham with the macaroni and season well, being careful not to break the macaroni.

    5. Butter a pie dish thickly and put in the macaroni mixture, cover with the grated cheese, and bake in a hot oven (450°F) until the top is browned.

    6. Serve with baked tomatoes and accompanied by a sauce-boat of melted butter.
